Okay, guys. I have been obsessing over this one-piece trend in swimsuits . Until recently, I had this impression that one-pieces were either for little kids or for older people who wanted to cover their bodies. Boy, was I wrong – and in the best way!
I’m interning at an online bikini + fashion retailer (Cacique Boutique) which is basically forced exposure to all the new and amazing swim styles (sucks, right?! kidding… I love bikinis) throughout the summer. Almost all of the suits I have my eye on are one-pieces! Maybe it’s because I haven’t owned one since I was a little girl, but probably it’s because they can be detailed and colorful and tasteful and hot all at the same time. I feel like they flatter almost every body type by showing off only select parts of skin. I mean, I love a good two-piece as much as anyone, but sometimes I feel a little bit too…exposed. Ya feel?!
When I found this Billabong one piece on sale at Urban Outfitters, I grabbed it immediately. It was marked down from $80 to $40 in the store at the time and there was literally only one on the entire rack, size medium. I’m a pretty solid small in bottoms and XS in tops so I was worried it was going to be too big, but it fits perfectly! The best part was that I found it when Urban was having a “sale on sale” sale so it was an additional 30% off. Meaning it was only $28!! Is there a better deal than that anywhere?!
The suit is still online and marked down, but not to as killer of a deal as I scored it for. If you’ve got an Urban nearby, definitely go and check it out! Maybe you’ll find a diamond in the rough like I did. (More like a diamond in a pile of other diamonds, because basically everything at Urban is amazing…)
It’s got crochet detailing down the middle which gives the look and feel of a plunging neckline without being completely open. In the rear it has criss-cross straps and a lower back with a semi-cheeky cut. It’s totally comfortable — I wore it all day under a dress without incident!
I know that some people are considering summer to be wrapping up, but I’m in complete denial that other seasons exist and I’ll probably continue to hit the beach all year long. Who’s with me?!
